In 2009, Brendon's Smile Raising Awareness for Childhood Stroke was founded as a not-for-profit organization. This year (2016) we officially transitioned to the World Pediatric Stroke Association. Our core mission: To raise awareness and educate about pediatric strokes. In 2010, in partnership with the Washington University School of Medicine, Department of Developmental Neurology, we created the Brendon's Smile Foundation Annual Lectureship Series on Pediatric Stroke - 2010
On Monday, May 2nd, I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of wonderful ladies from the Missouri School Nurses Association, St. Louis Region. I'm really excited with how I was received at a meeting for the School Nurses Association in the State of Missouri. During World Pediatric Stroke Awareness Week 2016 we are focusing on getting parents, EMS and doctors to recognize stroke in the young - as in children and babies.
