World Pediatric Stroke Awareness Week
The World Pediatric Stroke Awareness Week was originally declared by the World Pediatric Stroke Association in 2010, when it was still Brendon's Smile Raising Awareness for Childhood Stroke.
It seemed that big stroke organizations simply were not recognizing the pediatric population impacted by strokes.
Our children NEED a voice and Pediatric Stroke Awareness is imperative for getting the word out to save lives and to increases the chances for better outcomes in babies, children and adolescents who suffer strokes.
Hence, we took it upon ourselves to recognize one week out (the first Saturday of May through Friday the following week) of National Stroke Awareness Month (in the US) for the children to make a HUGE impact! One day simply isn't enough...and, frankly, people stop listening after a week.
